Just Film Distribution will release the beautiful Italian drama film Picciridda in the cinema on July 16. The special film was hailed by Italian press and film professionals as a masterpiece in the best Italian tradition. Set in the 1960s, the film follows the story of eleven-year-old Julia who, after her parents' departure, is forced to live with her strict grandmother. As Julia grows older, she discovers a terrible family secret. Picciridda deals with themes such as generational conflict, women's oppression and the pain of family members who are separated by emigration. The film takes you from the cinema on a loaded journey to sunny Sicily.

Not only the Italian press and film professionals see the power of Picciridda. On July 15, the Globo d'Oro will be awarded in Rome, also known as the Italian Golden Globes, and Picciridda is nominated in no less than 5 categories: best film, best debut film, best female lead (Marta Castiglia), best music and best screenplay. This makes Picciridda the film with the second most nominations this year.

A Sicilian fishing village in the 60s. Julia is eleven years old when her parents decide to exchange their poor existence for a search for work and happiness in France. But as time passes, she begins to take an interest in men. A mysterious world where she must stay far away from her grandmother, but which she would like to discover herself. Driven by curiosity, Julia one day loses her childhood innocence to a horrible family secret. From that moment on she sees the world with different eyes.
